Weekend Links

OLS hero Victor Davis Hanson knows from which he speaks: Modern liberalism is farce. As always with Hanson, this is a superb article.

What about the modern liberal university system? Kurt Schlichter says throw the whole damn system away.  I agree; here's a great excerpt from another must-read article for you this weekend:
Understand that the purpose of modern American “education” is not to educate students. It is primarily to provide cushy, subsidized sinecures for liberal administrators and faculty while, secondarily, providing a forum to indoctrinate soft young minds in the liberal fetishes du jour. Actually educating students is hard, and a meaningful education is anathema to liberalism. In the liberals’ ideal world, the universities would simply fester with leftist nonsense and not even bother with trying to teach their charges anything at all. And today, it’s pretty close to being the liberals’ ideal world.
In a recent blogpost at Cato-@-Liberty, Chris Edwards explains how governments around the globe are privatizing many of their infrastructure projects and are reaping nice benefits. Go figure -- private initiatives more effective and efficient than government efforts? No way. Except way, of course.

No surprise to me: scientists have determined that humans, but not our closest relatives, the chimps, have evolved a "big brain" gene.
