A Murderous View: "The Ends Justify the Means"

A terrific article at The Freeman discussing individualism vs. collectivism through the lens of the famous and all-too often accepted adage, "the ends justify the means."  Author Gary Gallies argues that the best, most consistent defender of the contrary point of view was Leonard Read, the original founder of the Foundation for Economic Education (FEE):
Those who believe so have rampaged through human history—particularly when they have exercised real political power. This belief has motivated all manner of tyrants and would-be social reformers, who have treated those living under their power as mere means. Immanuel Kant set out history’s most famous answer to exitus acta probat. But no one has offered a better, modern rebuttal to this view than FEE founder Leonard Read.
It's a nice paean to Read as well as a good introduction to this topic and definitely worth the effort.
