WWI Mythology

Or more precisely, 10 myths about World War 1 as debunked in this article at BBC News.  I must confess to having believed five of these to be true.  As for the other five, I wasn't aware of 2, and the three others I never believed to be accurate.  Thus, I learned a lot from this article.  Here's the second on the list as an enticement:
2. Most soldiers died
In the UK around six million men were mobilised, and of those just over 700,000 were killed. That's around 11.5%.  In fact, as a British soldier you were more likely to die during the Crimean War (1853-56) than in WW1.
