A Misanthropic Philosopher

Philosopher Stephen Hicks has a fascinating post at his site on Arthur Schopenaeur, a major philosophical influence in the early part of the 19th century and a major misanthrope.  Here's a small slice from Hicks's post:
As for mankind: “nothing else can be stated as the aim of our existence except the knowledge that it would be better for us not to exist."
