Media bias alert: Public school child abuse

Scholars at Hofstra University claim that results of their research into child abuse by public school teachers is vastly more widespread than previously believed.  According to Carol Shakeshaft, a child is 100X more likely to be abused by a public school teacher than by a priest.  But does our public school-supporting, liberal media cover this with the same tenancity and sense of outrage as it does when the source is organized religion? Of course not.  From an article at, surprisingly, CBS News:
So, in order to better protect children, did media outlets start hounding the worse menace of the school systems, with headlines about a "Nationwide Teacher Molestation Cover-up" and by asking "Are Ed Schools Producing Pedophiles?"

No, they didn't. That treatment was reserved for the Catholic Church, while the greater problem in the schools was ignored altogether.
Time to recall Glenn Reynolds's observation that increasingly, it seems that sending your children to public school is parental malpractice.
