Protectionism, French Style

Apparently, the French government and french book stores want to punish their citizens for trying to save money and Amazon for trying to make themselves and French citizens better off.  How so? By outlawing discounted book prices and free-shipping by the internet giant:
The French National Assembly has approved a bill that aims to protect independent book stores from the competition offered by companies like Amazon by banning the combination of five percent reductions and free shipping.
