Q: When was the first computer invented?

A: Over 2000 years ago!  According to a BBC documentary, the Antikythera Mechanism is the first known computing product and has been dated back to the 1st Century BCE.  From a post over at NotPC, here's a quote:
But Professor Michael Edmunds of Cardiff University, who led a 2006 study of the remains, sums up how astonishing this mechanism is:
"This device is just extraordinary, the only thing of its kind. The design is beautiful, the astronomy is exactly right. The way the mechanics are designed just makes your jaw drop. Whoever has done this has done it extremely carefully ... in terms of historic and scarcity value, I have to regard this mechanism as being more valuable than the Mona Lisa."
The entire hour-long documentary can be seen here; I haven't watched myself, though I did find the first couple trailer fascinating and plan on watching it soon!
