UPDATE 2: DHS ammo stockpiling: Three reasons

UPDATE 2:  Infowars.com is calling on Rand Paul to filibuster on this issue.  The article, which actually includes much more info on this topic than its title would suggest, can be found here.

UPDATE: I've reported previously about the tremendously large amount of ammuniciton that the Department of Homeland Security (don't you just love these Orwellian names?) has been buying in recent months (see post below).  Well, this issue has not only not gone away, it's starting to gather some interest on the part of curious, conservative politicans.  Here's Congressman Timothy Huelscamp reporting that the DHS has refused to answer questions from "multiple" member of congress regarding its recent ammo purchases:
“They have no answer for that question. They refuse to answer to answer that,” Huelscamp said.  “I’ve got a list of various questions of agencies about multiple things. Far from being the most transparent administration in the world, they are the most closed and opaque,” the Congressman added.  They refuse to let us know what is going on, so I don’t really have an answer for that. Multiple members of Congress are asking those questions,” he added.

Original post:
In a previous post a couple of days ago, I linked to an article reporting on the massive, essentially irrational stockpiling of ammunition by the Department of Homeland Security. After all, why would that agency buy so much ammunition that it would take hundreds of years for it to use it all?  But, as this must-read article points out, it's not irrational at all.  Most likely, it's a form of money laundering, with a side of gun control and domestic "terrorism" readiness thrown in for good measure.  Post author Donald Sensing, in referencing a DHS study leaked last year, reminds us of this administration's attitude towards freedom lovers (HT Glenn Reynolds):
A study funded by the Department of Homeland Security that was leaked last year characterizes Americans who are “suspicious of centralized federal authority,” and “reverent of individual liberty” as “extreme right-wing” terrorists.
So I guess that freedom-loving folks like you and I, dear reader, are partly responsible for all those ammo purchases...who knew? Oh, that's right, the creators of the 2nd Amendment knew....
