The Wimpification of the NFL continues....

A few days ago I posted on a proposed ban on the use of helmets by NFL running backs as they lower their heads in anticipation of contact (see here).  Well, it's now official: NFL owners voted today to make it illegal for running backs to use the crown of their helmet -- essentially, lower their heads --- at the point of contact with a defensive player.  You can read about the latest effort by the NFL to protect itself from legal threats, in the guise of player safety, here.
