Let's cut politics instead!

Earlier this week I linked to an excellent article by Thomas Sowell where he illustrates the tendency of politicians to "punish" the public when forced to make spending cuts by trying to maximize the visibility of the damage the cuts supposedly cause.  Well, Obama appears to be doing exactly that with the sequester "cuts".  Here is a link to a report that claims park supervisors pushed for reduction in services that the public would see, rather than make cuts in less visible areas elsewhere.  And here you can find a report on a leaked email from the Agriculture Department:
A leaked e-mail from the Agriculture Department has added substance to claims that President Obama’s political strategy is to make the sequestration as painful as possible in order to win public opinion against the Republicans.
