Keep an eye on this bill

Instapundit blogger extraordinare Glenn Reynolds started calling for a Republican politician to propose legislation preventing the government from seizing personal savings accounts a la the Cyprus debacle of earlier this week.  And whether it's a testimony to the power of his blogging or not, the fact is that a Republican lawmaker did just that.  Rep. Billy Long, a Republican from Missouri, introduced the bill earlier this week.  From the article:
"The government should not tax people's private savings accounts, which they have already paid taxes on, especially for the purpose of funding more bailouts," Long said. "I was shocked by the news that some countries might be considering these kinds of taxes, and I think Congress should say that this kind of tax won't happen in America."
In a perfect world, both parties would fight over each other to support this bill, thus posturing as protectors of the little folk.  And pols that don't hop on board, would be identified and would pay the political price.  Alas, we don't live in a perfect world...but maybe...in any event, you can read the whole article here.
